Strobist:SB600 1/32 through soft box immediately camera left, and right over the subject - very close.
SB800 bare, white light, 1/64 behind subject, and in frame to give a lens flare.
The way the light is used here is definitely something I want to try. The light is shining behind the subject and adds a dramatic touch to the photo, which complements his intense stare.
